Chemical alterations in the soil induced by the superficial application of straw of sugar-cane, limestone and vinasse

In soils with high acidity and low CEC, the combined application of limestone and organic matter can improve soil chemical characteristics. This reserch work had the aim of observing soil chemical changes with sugar-cane straw, limestone and vinasse alone or in combined treatments. The experiment was carried out in a laboratory environment, with a clayey soil (Nitossolo), testing the following treatments: 1) control; 2) vinasse 100 m3 ha-1; 3) sugar-cane straw: 10 t ha-1; 4) dolomite limestone (28% CaO, 17% MgO and ECC 67%): 6 t ha-1; 5) limestone + sugar-cane straw; 6) limestone + vinasse + sugar-cane straw. The pH and the elements Al+3, Ca+2, Mg+2 e K+ have been evaluated. The treatment limestone + vinasse + straw provided changes in the evaluated chemical conditions, with increase of pH and cation contents, and decrease of Al+3.
