Effects of the antibiotics and zinc oxide on piglets ration intake after weaning and on diarrhea incidence

Abstract

The experiment was conducted to evaluate the use of tilmicosin plus apramicin and tilmicosine associated or no with zinc oxide on feed intake of weaned piglets (21 days) and their effects on performance until 35 days of age. They were used farmers, denominated A and B, where were evaluated 191 and 209 animals, respectively. The treatments were: T1 – ration with tilmicosin (200 ppm) plus zinc oxide (2550 ppm); T2 – ration with tilmicosin (200 ppm) plus apramicin (100 ppm) and T3 – ration with zinc oxide (2550 ppm). They were evaluated the daily weight gain, daily feed intake, feed:gain ratio, diarrhea incidence, pneumonia incidence and mortality rate. It was used a randomized block design with 6 replicates in farmer A and 7 replicates in farmer B. The means were analyzed by Tukey test. It is observed, only to farmer A, a lower feed intake and weight gain to T3 treatment compared to T2 (P<0.05). To the others parameters, there were no difference (P>0.05) among treatments to farmer A and B. The use of tilmicosin associated or no with zinc oxide in rations of weaned piglets did not determine negative effects on feed intake and on performance. The drugs used are efficient to control of diarrhea.
