Information literacy in the internal audit of Londrina State University

Abstract

Introduction: Due to the rapid change of "scenery of the society", especially as a result of technological advances and new communication resources, is required of the public sector more efficiency, effectiveness, morality, economy and effectiveness. Thus, the public manager is responsible for management all resources of the best way.
Objectives: To identify whether the members of the Office of Internal Audit (AAI) of Londrina State University (UEL) have present standards for information literacy, according to the parameters and performance indicators approved by the American Library Association (ALA).
Methodology: Descriptive study with qualitative and quantitative approach. Data collection was conducted through a questionnaire with a Likert scale, structured based on indicators and expected outcomes.
Results: The analyzed indicators it can be seen that respondents assess their sources critically and incorporate selected information into their base knowledge and value systems, which observe the behavior of use, individually or collectively, information effectively to achieve a specific purpose comprising the economic issues, legal and social issues surrounding the access and use of information in order ethical and legal. Therefore, they claim to have developed information literacy standards of ALA.
Conclusion: Besides the information literacy, which is necessary for success in information sharing, it is expected to have contributed to the reflection of those involved, so that there will be a deeper issue, in order to improve, increasingly, the activities as well as to raise awareness about information literacy, which transcends the institutional framework, passing to the social sphere, to lifelong learning, to "learn to learn" that makes individuals able to make decisions about all aspects of life.
