A primeira pessoa do plural no falar culto de fortaleza: uma análise em tempo real de curta duração

Abstract

The present study, starting from the methodological theoretical framework used by the Theory of Linguage Variation and Change (WEINREICH, LABOV AND HERZOG, 1968; LABOV, 1994, 2001, 2008), aims to analyze, in short-term real-time, the first-person pronominal variation of the plural, nós and a gente, in the cultured speech of Fortaleza-CE. We used a sample from 1990, consisting of 50 informants, and a sample from 2010, consisting of 54 informants, from the database Projeto Descrição do Português Oral Culto de Fortaleza (PORCUFORT). With R software (R CORE TEAM, 2020), through the RStudio environment, we obtained a total of 4597 observations of nós and a gente in the analyzed samples. In total terms, there was a significant increase in the frequencies and proportions of the innovative form in the 2010 sample, when compared to the 1990 sample. In terms of trend, this study demonstrated a general pattern in the two samples, indicating a certain stability of variation and linguistic change of the pronominal forms nós/a gente in the Fortaleza community.

Marden Alyson Matos de Araujo, Universidade Federal do Ceará

Graduated in Literature - Portuguese Language from the State University of Ceará (2013), master's degree in Applied Linguistics from the State University of Ceará (2016), technical-professional course from the National Youth Program (2011), specialization course in Language Teaching English, and improvement in Teacher Training - Projovem Urbano at the Federal University of Ceará (2011). He is currently a doctoral student in the Postgraduate Program in Linguistics-PPGL at the Federal University of Ceará and Professor at the Secretariat of Basic Education of Ceará. He has experience in the area of Literature, with an emphasis on Portuguese and English. Working mainly on the following topics: Pronouns, Variation, Linguistic Change, Sociolinguistics.

Hebe Macedo Carvalho, Universidade Federal do Ceará - UFC

Professor of the Department of Vernacular Literature - Associate Level IV, Permanent Professor of the Postgraduate Program in Linguistics at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC), Research line Description and Linguistic Analysis. She has a degree in Literature from the Federal University of Paraíba (1993), a Master's in Literature from the Federal University of Paraíba (1997) and a PhD in Linguistics from the Federal University of Ceará (2007). She completed a Post-Doctoral Internship in Linguistics at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES). She develops studies on the variation and change of verbal and pronominal categories in Brazilian Portuguese speech from the perspective of Variationist Sociolinguistics.
