In Cidade de Deus, violence is objectively portraited, in cruel and raw langue in many scenes and images; however they are not fancied and in fact belong to a kind of journalistic thirst to describe things. The poetical form may be seen in the introductory part and alongside other moments in the narrative. But this is not the prevailing language in the text as it ressurges here an d there like an agression. Thia attitude reveals a particular stance to create a large gap between violence and poetry. As such it is discordant to the general association between pain and poetry as well as it presents itself resisting to allow the novel to become a token of merchandise.Downloads
