This article analyzes The Experimental Novel by Emile Zola (1979) in the medial context of the XIX century. His text pretends to disassociate contemporary literature from romantic parameters e direct its procedures towards an empiric visual observation and approximate literature to scientific discourse and praxis. Photography as an idealized medium for exact and objective observation becomes an important discursive reference in his theoretical reflections. This article also evaluates his poetic proposals in the historical context of social differentiation and the rise of specific communicative and functional areas.Downloads
