The article examines the multifaceted relationship between books and other media in the context of technological convergence, focusing on convergent publications and their impact on the publishing and entertainment industries. Analyzing recent data and theoretical frameworks, the study identifies how media convergence shapes reading practices and fosters a synergistic interplay between books and audiovisual products such as films, series, and games. The paper challenges four widespread misconceptions about convergent publications: their supposed restriction to young audiences, their allegedly recent origin, the predominance of comparative analysis between text and image, and their perceived limited economic and cultural significance. By advancing the concept of the "materialization of the book", the article emphasizes the need for analytical approaches that attend to the editorial characteristics of these publications and their participation in broader transmedial ecosystems. The findings reveal the complexity and dynamism of the contemporary cultural industry, highlighting the central role of convergent publications in shaping new reader behaviors and market trends.
