It was possible, through this research, to get to some considerations about the design and structure of the first squares and chapels in the North of Parana state. The church occupies a privileged and good position in the urban area. Its dimensions are proportional to the city size, having distinction in relation to the houses. The avenues and urban equipments, such as train and bus station, define the position of the church, which is general/y centralized. In the rural zone, whose spacial shape demonstrates a voluntary formation, the church appears as an essential instrument in the social life. It has a kind of public square around it which keeps its characteristics as time goes by. It does not happen in the urban zone, where the squares lose their distinction do not have the public platform in its midst. The church is general/y in the centre of the square. It has simple characteristics in the structure and in the use of the space. Its proportions may be changed according to the city growth. One could notice the existence of architectonic models, similar to some well known churches, but they are "translated into the wooden languages. The churches have similar characteristics according to their positions. This research was restricted only to churches and squares in the North of Paraná; it did not consider the examples in the South Region.
