Every human being has the right to an adequate standard of living to assure both health and comfort, being the State and society’s responsibility, at the international level inclusive, to give everyone - without any kind of discrimination - access to adequate , nutritious and healthy food. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948), the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (1966), the Constitutional Letters from several countries and the international documentation organized by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO, 1945), lead international struggles to combat and uproot hunger, evincing both the importance of the human right to proper nourishment and the international responsibility to implement public policies for food generation.
