The authors report a case of hipertrophic retraction of the endochondral cartilage in both ulnar metaphysis in a Great Dane racing dog. The animal was examined radiographically when it was seven-month old and presented marked deformity in the forelimbs due to growth retraction of the distal ulnar physeal line and development of cone in the distal ulnar metaphysis, being more accentuated in the right forelimb. The radiolucent cone extended along the physeal lines from the metaphyseal region to the interior of the diaphysis. At 12 months of age, legs presented deformity and later at the age of 18 and 30 months they showed secundary alterations, such as: - apparent withdrawal of growth with ulnar shortening and bowing of the cranial radius.
