The Community of São Miguel is subordinated to the commercial capital of peasant origin. This capital constitutes one of five production systems which co-exist in the Community, all of them having different roles in different conditions. The material basis of the Community is cassava and cotton production, as well as cassava processing and flour making at the household level.
