Financial deprivation is not the only characteristic of poverty, as it is also linked to a series of minimum rights that must be ensured due to the dignity of the human person. Therefore, the existential minimum has to be guaranteed. The Brazilian Constitution brings the eradication of poverty as a fundamental objective of the Republic and the Bolsa Familia is the main social program that pursues this goal. This paper presents data showing the partial results of the Bolsa Família program, especially in terms of income, education and health, which works to assure the existential minimum for the poorest of people.
