The role of Brazil’s Central Bank in overcoming the banking crisis: an analysis of special intervention systems

Financial institutions are fundamental players in Brazil’s economy, and crises in its sector can negatively affect other markets. This paper’s purpose is to examine the importance of the Brazilian Central Bank’s regulation and operation of the financial system, analysing how its actions impact the existence and effects of banking crises’. Moreover, this study explores how the Brazilian Central Bank operates and how financial institutions facing economic crisis are influenced by its conduct. In this context, distinguishing and criticizing its mechanisms. In order to do this, this paper investigates Laws nº 6.024/74 and n. 2.321/87. Likewise, this study utilizes Pinto (2015) and Saddi (2001) as theoretical references. Finally, in order to achieve this paper’s objectives, this study utilizes literature review and a qualitive approach.Downloads
