Manuscript Evaluation Process
The evaluation process at Advances in Nursing and Health begins with a pre-analysis by the Editor-in-Chief. At this stage, the contribution of the manuscript to scientific advancement and the construction of evidence for professional practice is assessed, as well as its theoretical, methodological and structural quality, in addition to its suitability for the journal's editorial guidelines. If approved in this initial phase, the manuscript is sent to an associate editor, a member of the Editorial Board, who will forward it to two specialized reviewers.
The journal uses the Double-Blind Review system, in which both authors and reviewers remain anonymous. This means that the reviewers do not know the identity of the authors, and the authors do not know the identity of the reviewers.
The reviewers use a specific form to guide their analysis and, at the end of the process, they can issue one of the following opinions: Accepted, Accepted with mandatory corrections or Rejected. In the event of a difference of opinion, the manuscript will be submitted to a third reviewer for a final decision.
When corrections are requested, the authors must submit the revised version of the manuscript to the submission system within a maximum of 30 days, incorporating the suggestions made by the reviewers.
In cases of rejection, it is up to the section editor to formally notify the authors and other editors involved, presenting the opinions on which the decision was based.
Accepted manuscripts or those accepted with corrections undergo a similarity check using iThenticate software. Based on the report generated, the section editor can request additional adjustments from the authors to eliminate any possibility of plagiarism.
The average time between submission and publication is approximately six months.
