Abstract

The exchange of correspondence between Guimarães Rosa and his translators illuminates the collaborative effort aimed at devising optimal strategies for transposing Rosian fiction into other languages. Within these letters, literature becomes the sole inhabitant of a discursive space, wherein dialogue serves as the primary tool for elucidating and motivating the translator. This dynamic engenders a process wherein the work is revisited and reexamined by the author, facilitating the identification of points of articulation between languages and modes of expression. Such an experience yields novel fictional strategies within Rosian narratives of the 1960s, exemplified by the proliferation of paratexts in *Tutaméia – Terceiras Estórias*, including the inclusion of a glossary. The partnership between author and translator does not aim for mere replication, but rather seeks to foster creative liberty, which should underpin the translator’s interpretative and recreative efforts. This collaborative endeavor thus becomes a platform for innovation and adaptation, enriching the translated texts with new layers of meaning and resonance.
