This article focuses on the poetic writing of Sergio Vaz. Author of six poetry books and member of a group of writers from the peripheries of São Paulo, Sergio Vaz is also the creator and organizer of the most remarkable cultural-event of the suburbs of Brazil: the “Sarau da Cooperifa”, where people from the community get together at the local coffee shop for an open-mic poetry reading. This article proposes that Sergio Vaz’ texts integrate a literary project that, complemented with the Sarau, aims to culturize and valorice the notion of “periphery”, and of “being peripheral”, from a special attention in short and effective texts.References
