Roland Barthes was never in Brazil, but his presence in the literary system was ensured by scholars whose criticism in the newspapers’ pages have attacked, commented and discussed his works. In this article, we will study the reception to the French writer’s works by the cultural journalism since the 1980s, which appreciated Barthes in a different way: he was not anymore the same writer who had been attacked by the critics in the 1950s and 1960s, most of them autodidacts, nor the author discussed in the 1970s by the Professors. Instead of these images, a Barthes transformed in a reference for the new generations.Downloads
