Clarice Lispector perhaps is the most important Brazilian writer. For her writing densely concentrated in the inner experience and questioning, sometimes ironically, the function “woman” in Brazilian society. I believe the year we celebrate fifty years of the first publication of Laços de família may be a opportune time to remake the reading of those short stories, and with them, to rethink some ties, untie some knots and re-evaluate the imaginary family this half century. So I read the emblematic “Uma galinha”, tale in which domesticity and motherhood become essential issues, as well as in “O ovo e a galinha”, from A legião estrangeira.Downloads
