Tragedy and the tragic, Portuguese literature, Bernardo SantarenoAbstract
The work deals with classical Greek tragedy and tragic knowledge, as a poetic experience, fully realized in a historically situated time, in relation to another dramatic form in which the tragic manifests itself, in modernity. Based on studies of the tragedy and the tragic, from the point of view of some authors such as Karl Jaspers, Glenn W. Most, Jean Pierre Vernant, Pierre Vidal-Naquet and Emil Staiger, we seek to understand a literary phenomenon that enables relationships with others texts in which the tragic appears, taking as reference the play by Bernardo Santareno António Marinheiro (the Oedipus of Alfama), in his relationship with the Oedipus King of Sophocles. Thus, establishing approximations and differences between the texts, we verified the possibility of the existence of new configurations of the tragic in modernity, taking the necessary precautions not to lose sight of the historicity of forms and the transformations in the literary treatment of myths.References
