The black in the work of Machado de Assis and the elliptical treatment given to these characters. The logic of social representations strategically opposed to the narrative technique of exposure and saturation of the void. Exhibiting the black as a being by subtraction, he exposes, inside out, his disbelief regarding the insertion of this segment in a recognized social order, in an equal relationship.
