This paper intends to analyze the literary performance of Machado de Assis in the feminine magazine A Estação. In this context, the author conducted an important task to develop critical sense and to renew the reading practices assumed commonly in women's press. Therefore, this work proposes the analysis of narrative "Curiosidade" which is based on didactic purposes related to the introduction of Realism and the investment in the fictional status of literature. In addition, the paper intends to present a review the way to understand the Machado de Assis' formative path.
