Abstract

This paper focuses on the use of mesoclisis in Brazilian Portuguese. It analyses the frequency of this structure in academic writing and discusses how Brazilian speakers evaluate it. We will argue that the language change involving mesoclisis is almost complete.

Author Biography

Ana Carolina Silva Vilela, Faculdade de Letras -UFMG

É bacharel em Linguística pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (2004) e mestre em Linguística Aplicada (2009) pela mesma instituição. Desenvolveu monografia sobre a construção mesoclítica, analisando sua frequência nos textos acadêmicos e a avaliação que os falantes fazem dela. O trabalho, orientado pela Profa. Dra. Jânia Ramos, foi premiado na XIII Semana de Iniciação Científica da UFMG. Atualmente, tem-se voltado para o estudo da aquisição de línguas estrangeiras, à luz do fenômeno da transferência linguística e de treinamento, e da interação de processos sintáticos e semânticos.
