The aim of this paper is to present some reflections about the data from the ethnographical research project in Applied Linguistic “Writing and grammar teaching: a new look at an old problem”, developed by Vernacular and Classical Languages Department at the State University of Londrina (UEL). The data come from an action research by a Portuguese teacher teaching the eighth grade at a public primary school in Paraná. Data analysis reveals the teacher presents some difficulty to use the new pedagogical proposal, but also points out the fact that discussing and reflecting critically on her own pedagogical practice makes the work more productive because awareness is a way in changing direction.
