Abstract

This paper discusses the way Bakhtin, in his conception of ethical or “responsable” (sic) act, proposes and argues for the centrality of the agent in his/her ethical relationship with other agents in the concrete context of action as the kernel of human agency. With this aim in view, the paper examines Bakhtin‘s work Towards a Philosophy of the Act, after presenting it from the perspective of its historical context of emergence, crucial for adequately understanding it.

Doutor em Lingüística Aplicada e Estudos da Linguagem pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (2006), Mestre em Letras pela Universidade de São Paulo (1999), Especializado em Lingüística pela UNICAMP (1983), Licenciado em Letras (Inglês) pela Universidade Federal da Bahia (1977). É tradutor profissional de e para português, francês, inglês e espanhol em várias áreas das ciências humanas, de medicina e de bioética etc. É, atualmente, professor concursado do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras - Linguística Aplicada, da Universidade Católica de Pelotas - RS.
