The optimization of the signal control of the urban traffic in real time is presented, using depth search procedure in graphs. The traffic of vehicles model used for the prediction of future traffic behavior is described by means of state equations. The control method provides signal opening timings which result in the best possible performance for the transport system as well as a coordination of traffic flows between intersections. Performance is measured by the average delay of vehicles. The algorithm shows better performance when compared with a fixed time strategy with timings calculated by the TRANSYT program.Downloads
