The state of Paraná is located in a region of climatic transition, with different thermal regimes and variations of frost risk. Pineapple (Ananas comosus L.) is a sensitive crop to climatic conditions and knowledge of risks to which it is exposed is crucial to obtain success. The objective of this study was to perform the agroclimatic zoning for pineapple cultivation in the state of Paraná. Suitable limits of major climate variables were defined and assessed for the state, considering annual mean temperature, mean temperature of the coldest month, annual risk of frost, risk of water deficit, mean annual number of hours of sunshine and photoperiod. Paraná has a low climate risk areas for the cultivation of pineapple. Mean annual temperature above 19°C, mean temperature of coldest month above 15.5°C and altitude below 600 m helped to determine areas suitable for cultivation of pineapple in Paraná state. The annual water deficit is not limiting for the cultivation of pineapple in the state. The average annual temperature and photoperiod can induce pineapple flowering in the state. We highlight the areas west, northwest and north, with average annual temperature above 22°C, which are recommended for cultivation. In regions with average annual temperature between 19 and 22°C, the choice of place of cultivation should be thorough, taking into account the risk of frost site. The Central, South and East are not recommended, because they have temperature ranges below the minimum required.
