Media and religion: Foucault’s reflections on the constitution of knowledge and/or truths of the bodies

The text on screen is a brief dialogue with the work of Michael Foucault. The main interest is to explore the analytical potential of some concepts of the Archaeology method proposed by Foucault. The study is based on Discourse Analysis (DA) of the French study line and it tries to find in Foucault, especially on his studies about the relationship between knowledge and power the support to show that discursive formations determine the discourse meaning. This notion is of great importance to understand Discourse Analysis by Foucault. We will stick to the discussion proposed by Foucault regarding the constitution of truths. In this sense, according to the method mentioned above, we will present a series of media and religion enunciation containing statements taken from various media outlets. The aim is to examine the relationship between the elements of these sets and how meanings are produced and / or built around those discursive events that involve media, religion and the constitution of knowledge and / or truths.Metrics
