Marginal ethics: giving voice to the “other” in slums

Abstract

This paper analyzes the plurality present in journalistic work in books-report. The analysis encompasses the book Abusado by Caco Barcellos (2004), and Cidade Partida Zuenir VENTURA (1995). The idea is show the possibilities of covering violence in the country in a less simplistic and more human way. Reports that can escape from the stereotypes, giving voice to the unknown "other" that is present in the slums. The discursive production on the hills forms a kind of marginal ethics, silenced by the mainstream media. That situation avoid that people can look into the contradictory effects present in the production of meanings and the relationship between saying and no-saying.
