This study has as its goal to identify the romantic poetics in the work of the english writer Percy Shelley, more specifically in his poem “To a skylark”, whose poetic-self When watching the bird and its song and become marveled, defines which should be the characteristics of a poet and his art, as well his relation with the nature. With this purpose, one used the notions about romantic inclination of Georges Gusdorf (1984), to whom the romantic period is focused absolutely in the “self”, and Benedito Nunes (2013), which advocate the sacralization ot nature by the romantic perspective, likewise the enviroment identification and rejection possibilities by the individual. Thereby, the used methodology was the conotative possibilities analysis of the words of the poem according to Moisés (1969), in order to establish a dialogue with the theory then. One could, by the end of this study, to recompose the Shelley’s idealized part of the poet and his art as a subject invested of divine features, endowed with fertile creativity, also capable of make nature around him more beautiful and inspire feelings of empathy and compassion in his readers and listeners.
