Resumen

Se trata de un comentario sobre el concepto de lo imaginal, utilizado en trabajos académicos y no académicos de diversas áreas en la actualidad, formulado inicialmente por el filósofo medieval persa Surauardi. Se comienza con el estatuto ontológico de la imagen como ser-en-suspensión y el contexto de su elaboración, pasando luego a un comentario sobre las posibilidades imaginales más allá de la representación, especialmente en la experiencia religiosa y, finalmente, se aborda la cuestión de la espacialidad peculiar de este “mundo” intermediario que es ālam al-mithāl, el mundo imaginal. En este sentido, hay un doble movimiento en el texto: (i) citar y elaborar posibilidades menos “religiosas” de lectura, alejándose un poco de la órbita literario-secundaria de la recepción de Henry Corbin, aunque sin dejar de recordar el tipo de problemas que Surauardi se esfuerza por resolver; (ii) producir un comentario general sobre el pensamiento de Surauardi y Xarazuri que justifique sus usos contemporáneos y fomente otros adicionales.
