São Raimundo Nonato dos Mulundus, the holy cowherd: crossings of religiosity in motion

The text presents some considerations about the relations between memory, experience and image, based on a photographic essay at the procession of São Raimundo Nonato dos Mulundus, which starts in the city of Vargem Grande towards to Paulica, in Maranhão, Brazil. These reflections are based on the ideas of different theorists of photography, and on different authors of the critical and artistic thinking. The way of operating the thought, here, proposes a triangulation between the written text, the images and the performances of popular practices. In the end, I make some comments about the relations between remembering and forgetting in remembrance processes, and the dimension of the photographic experience in the spirit of imaginative unfolding.Downloads
