Abstract

This paper examines the influence of the 1972 Stockholm Conference on the constitutional texts of Latin American countries in regards to environmental protection. Firstly, this research points out the main hallmarks and features of the Stockholm Conference and the constitutional evolution of Latin America countries in relation to their treatment of the environment, under the Convention's influence. This research, which is of an analytical and exploratory nature, shows that Latin American Constitutions and the Environment Convention of the 1972 Stockholm Conference serves as models for other constitutional texts, because many countries still disregard the environment as a fundamental right for all peoples and beings.
