Preprints

ANH accepts the submission of manuscripts previously made available on reliable, open-access preprint servers (e.g., SciELO Preprints, EmeRI, OSF Preprints, among others). A preprint is defined as the preliminary version of a scientific work that has not yet undergone formal peer review.

Posting a manuscript as a preprint does not constitute prior publication and does not prevent submission to ANH, provided that the manuscript is not simultaneously under review or accepted by another journal.

At the time of submission, authors must inform:

that the manuscript has been deposited as a preprint;

the name of the server;

the access link and the DOI or equivalent identifier, when available.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that the content of the preprint complies with the ethical principles, scientific integrity standards, and originality requirements established by ANH, as well as with Open Science practices and, when applicable, research data sharing policies.

If the article is approved and published, authors must update the preprint record by adding the full reference and DOI of the final version published in ANH.

Because they have not undergone peer review, preprints should not be considered conclusive, especially for direct application in clinical or professional practice.
