Abstract

Memory is a mounting issue articulated by the memories of each one tied to the testimony of different actors, from different languages. All these narratives together do not form an intelligible past, only the choice between what you remember and forget that it is feasible to tie the threads of the past. In this paper, the work of Isabel Allende, Retrato em Sépia, is reviewed in the light of the theory of Paul Ricoeur on the route to rescue the main character’s identity.
