In this paper we put in parallel Walter Benjamin’s theses about the writing in the modernity, from the text “Paris, the Capital of the Nineteenth Century”, where photography and other modern means of production are referenced, with the prose of the Book of Disquiet by Fernando Pessoa. Lisbon, a modern city as Baudelaire’s aris was, has the same constraints that any european capital in modernism.
