This essay deals with the concept of mysticism and its aesthetic and religious developments in Roger Bastide’s literary criticism, especially in studies devoted to the establishment of a dual tradition of African poetry and its incorporation into the Brazilian poetry as we may see in A Poesia afro-brasileira and A Incorporação da poesia africana à poesia brasileira. In this way, we highlight the relationship between poetry and music, as much as several oscillations between the notions of mysticism, sentiment, magic, religion and morals in dialogue with Lucien Lévy-Bruhl and Henri Brémond.Downloads
