Literature and revolutionary utopia in the Brazilian scene of after-1964: Don Juan and Sempreviva

The turbulent Brazilian socio-historical context which lasted from the mid-60’s until the mid 80’s, left indelible marks on the artistic and cultural production of that period. Such marks are deeply reflected by and further elaborated in many aspects in literature. Among them the aesthetic approach to thematic utopia/revolution that during this timeframe may be perceived with greater or lesser intensity in fictional works. Accordingly, I intend to analyze the way which Antonio Callado’s novels Bar don Juan (1971) and Sempreviva (1981) aesthetically rethink the question of the disintegration of the utopian projects in their narrative economies.References
