This article intends to show how homosexuality was viewed in seventeenth-century Spain, and how it is portrayed in Sueños y Discursos [Dreams and Discourses], by one of Spain’s major Siglo de Oro writers, Francisco de Quevedo y Villegas. It is divided in three parts: the first address satire, since Quevedo is regarded as a major satirist; the second addresses Quevedian satire, since Quevedo’s Sueños is regarded as one of the most brilliant and ingenious satirical pieces of prose; the third addresses homosexuality in seventeenth-century Spain and in Quevedo’s Sueños.Downloads
