The research intends to analyse the patriarchal ideology in Olavo Bilac’s Poesias infantis (Poetry for children, 1904), considered one of the most representative work at the beginning of Brazilian literature for children. We verified that the way how the images of man and woman are built shows a patriarchal conception, seeing that the poet represent but also emphasizes the social reality, in which predominates a limited vision of woman.
