Abstract

This article is based on orality, the way in which indigenous peoples have transmitted their ancestral knowledge. It specifically discusses the characteristics of Kaingang education, which is inseparable from the cosmology of this indigenous people, and which should inspire practices in indigenous school education, as constitutionally guaranteed, in a specific, differentiated, bilingual and community-based way. To this end, it is necessary to put the idea of interculturality into practice and not as a mere discourse. The Kaingang school should be based on the sharing of knowledge, where the principle of reciprocity and the presence of elders become fundamental, due to their centrality in the cultural transmission of the Kaingang people.
