The investigation in this study focuses on teacher education and in the English teaching/learning process. In the discussion of language learning and teaching, it is important to note that the subjects involved in this process, teachers and students, bring with them beliefs about the ways to learn and teach the language, focusing on the teaching methodologies and knowledge construction in these beliefs. Due to the influence of teachers on student learning, it is necessary that the professional who teaches foreign languages ??has appropriate training for this activity characterized by Almeida Filho (2002) as complex and constantly reflective. Highlighting the implications of the beliefs in teaching practice and the relevance of the professional training of foreign languages ??to a qualified education, we aim to verify what are the beliefs of students of Letras/English, who have already worked as teachers, about learning and teaching the English language as well as highlighting how teacher education assists practice in the classroom.Downloads
