Abstract

The article focuses on the analysis of texts of the academic genre Minima Onomastica, published in the Rivista Italiana di Onomastica (RIOn). This genre is new and has not yet been described within the field of Text and Discourse Linguistics. It aims to present reflections or results regarding a certain topic or object of study within Onomastics. A corpus consisting of 18 texts (sixteen in Italian, one in English, and one in Catalan) was analyzed. By applying the CARS model (Swales, 1990, 2004; Bunton, 2002), the study provided several relevant insights on the compositional structure of the analyzed texts. Two steps of the CARS model (theme and results presentation) stood out due to their prevalence in all examined texts. Additionally, the contextualization step was identified in the majority of the texts. As a result, the main rhetorical-structural properties of the Minima Onomastica genre were systematized and the study confirm the genre's ability to disseminate discoveries, contributing to the diffusion and advancement of knowledge in the field of Onomastics.
