Firstly, this study reflects on the phenomenon of rhotacism in the history of the Portuguese language, from the panchronic linguistic point of view. Next, from an episode in which rhotacism imprints itself on an English sign, this work tries to discuss the assumed belief that the spread of the global language signifies a death sentence for the local languages.Downloads
