About the experimental investigations of the linguistic atlas of Brazil: still discussing the questionnaires

The charts of linguistic atlases present a dialect snapshot of a particular explored area and may answer the question of how this or that concept is manifested in a particular place and time. Besides, as confirmed by Silva Neto (1957: 37), a chart offers not only one synchronic cut but several ones provided by a current geographical distribution and, consequently, the reconstitution of areas that were once live and that are now lost, submerged by other layers, credited by loans, or new creations. This is the case, for example, of Chart 46 of the Linguistic Atlas of Paraná (ALPR), whose theme 'bananas are born stuck' shows, in the rural language, the coexistence of innovative forms of standard language as reinforced by the educational institution as gêmeas and duplas, along with more conservative forms such as filipe, incôe, inconha, that are resistant to the regional and/or rural language.
