This paper aims to present the findings of a Master's degree research that identified and proposed a classification for reported speech introductory verbs. It also presents some suggestions for critical review teaching and learning as far as reported speech verbs are concerned. For this classification, some theoretical-methodological concepts from the sociodiscursive interactionism, such as linguistic operations, are used.
