The intrinsic relation between language and literature is a subject of constant discussions among specialists in teaching of motherly and foreign languages. In this work, it is discussed the literary reading as a special way to the discovery and to construction of the senses and the pictorial language like an important tool in this course. This proposal is based on the relations of transtextuality discussed by Genette (1982), for whom the paratext is also associated to the illustration. We analyze still until what point associates the literary text to the image it can be considered to "vulgarize the literature" or a way of moving the reader to the literary phenomenon.
