The author synthetizes the historiographic contribution to the study of the academic architecture of Rio de Janeiro, pointing out the methodologic impasses of this historiography. A discussion on the necessity of the accomplishment of theoretically updated and historically well documented researches is carried out viewing the true knowledgement of this architecture still not well known among us.
