Abstract

The structural evolution of the amorphous phase in Co72Nb24B4 composition was processed by casting furnace at the bow and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). The evolution of the amorphous microstructure leads to the creation of a group of materials with highly desirable properties with high mechanical strength, hardness and resistance to abrasion and corrosion. Furthermore, the considerable amount of formation of amorphous phase and a crystalline phase partial transformation during the melting process in arc furnaces have been disclosed. It was also found that, in casting occur powder morphology changes between the amorphous and crystalline phase, facilitating the emergence of intermetallic phases with slides, small regular crystals based on oxides and their size increases initially.
