Abstract

Through the fluorescent antibody test, brains and salivary glands of 80 mice experimentally inoculated with the rabies virus have been analysed, 40 mice were killed in the non-symptomatic stage and the others were killed in the agonizing stage. From the brain material, 100% positiveness was obtained regarding the animals killed in both the non-symptomatic and the agonizing stage. When making use of the fluorescent antibody test for the rabies diagnosis in the salivary glandis, a positive result was obtained in 85% of the animals killed during the non-symptomatic stage and 100% of the animals killed in the agonizing stage. The results have proved the sensitivity of the fluorescent antibody test for the rabies in the salivary glands.
