The aim of this research was to evaluate spacing between plants in rows (20 and 25 cm) and number of hillings (0, 1 and 2 hillings) on yield of cuttings (shoots) and on fresh mass of commercial roots of Peruvian carrot in order to obtain propagative material at the local of cultivation. Factors were arranged in a 2 x 3 factorial scheme, in a randomized block experimental design, with four replications. Harvests were done in 211 and 255 days after planting - DPA. In 211 DAP, the greatest number of shoots was obtained with spacing of 20 cm between plants (493,610 shoots) which would allow planting 7.47 ha. In 255 DAP, the greatest number was obtained with plants that were cultivated with 20 cm spacing and without hilling (606,360 shoots), with planting capacity of 9.18 ha. In 255 DAP, plants that were cultivated with spacing of 20 cm between plants and those cultivated without hilling showed the greatest number of commercial roots, but not the greatest fresh mass, different from the results of those obtained in 211 days. Relating yield of cuttings and the obtaining of commercial roots of Peruvian carrot, it was established that the grower must opt to cultivation using 25 cm between plants, two hills and harvest in 255 days, because it would be necessary to cultivate 1.55 ha in order to obtaining the same number of shoots that the cultivation with spaces of 20 cm between plants, without hill and harvest in 255 DAP (606,360 shoots ha-1), but there was an increase of 2.04 t ha-1 of commercial roots and the increase of net income of R$ 3,746.00 per hectare.
